1997 Season
Greg's interest in racing began while watching his father, Rick Taylor, race sprint cars, midgets, and TQ's all of his life. So, in 1997 Greg started racing Go-Carts at the age of 15.
| 1998 Season
On Greg's 16th birthday, his father Rick handed down his car to his son. That June, Greg entered his first ever sprint car race at Ventura Raceway, Greg went on to finish out the racing year for his father, and received 10th in overall points for the 1998 IMCA season. |
1999 Season
The 1999 Season started out very successful with an invitation in February to race TQ midgets with his father in New Zealand.
| After his New Zealand trip, Greg returned home to Ventura Raceway to finish up the 1999 IMCA season. As the season came to a close, Greg ended up 4th in overall points, with 5 top 5 finishes, 19 top 10 finishes, and a most improved driver award. |
2000 Season
In 2000, Ventura Raceway created its own Sprint Car sanctioning body (VRA), to rid itself of the IMCA engine claim rule. With the IMCA rule, any competitor finishing on the lead lap can claim one of the top 4 finisher's engines for $825.00. Without this rule the engines can be built to create more horsepower without the threat of losing money established into the engine. This also creates more competition, and exciting racing! |

Greg's performance this 2000 season has been outstanding, boasting two main event wins, six top five finishes, and eleven top ten finishes, placing Greg as one of the major contenders for the VRA 2000 Point Championship. So, next time you're at the track, be on the lookout for this black and red No. 7 car, as he may very well be the one to beat!
